I am a quantitative and mixed-methods researcher working at the intersection of education policy and leadership. I am primarily interested in how educational organizations recruit, retain, and develop effective teachers and school leaders. My work has been published in journals such as Educational Researcher and Educational Administration Quarterly and funded by the Spencer Foundation.

I use statewide administrative data, survey data, and interview data to conduct policy-relevant research on educators' career trajectories (including their pathways to the principalship), assistant principals, and educator labor markets. I partner with state departments of education as a research affiliate with the Tennessee Education Research Alliance,  the University of Houston Educational Research Center, and the Alabama State Department of Education. I am a faculty fellow at the University of Alabama Education Policy Center.

I hold a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Leadership from Vanderbilt University and an M.A. in Education Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to graduate school, I was a middle school social studies and literacy teacher in rural Louisiana and Nashville, Tennessee.
